Born into slavery in Alabama in the 1850s, Traylor was in his 80s, homeless, when he first started drawing, documenting the stories that made up his life. Today, he is considered one of the most important American artists of the 20th century.

The Barcelona-born photographer says she works mostly out of instinct, her eye constantly looking for poetic glimpses into the world. Presence in Hormuz 2 is a stunning residential project off the coast of Iran that was built using Nader Khalili’s unique superadobe technique while drawing on the kaleidoscopic colors of the local landscape. “Fabulosity” is how you described this rainbow of raw-earth homes, among a flurry of enthusiastic comments.
