Bill Traylor is a unique American artist whose story deeply moved many of you. Born into slavery in Alabama in the 1850s, Traylor was in his 80s, homeless, when he first started drawing, documenting the stories that made up his life. Today, he is considered one of the most important American artists of the 20th century.

The rise in hate crimes against people of Asian and Pacific Island heritage across North America since the beginning of the pandemic prompted Goodeeâs art director, Celia Spenard-Ko, to speak out and share a much-needed message of love and unity with the larger community â a message that resonated with many.
